Minister of Tourism Karmenu Vella today emphasised the need to attract more tourists to Malta, especially throughout winter months. This was said during a meeting with the Malta Association Hospitality Executives (MAHE).

Doing so, he said, will make the tourism industry more sustainable and will guarantee more security to employees throughout the whole year.  The Minister said that development can move forward with the renovations of buildings and property.

President of MAHE Charles Martin stated his belief that there are many ways in which the tourism industry can improve. He emphasised the need for the authorities to better the service they are offering, he also suggested offering degrees in hospitality.

He said that the level of the service offered and the touristic mix are three factors which need to be given more attention so that the industry becomes more sustainable and more productive. Both sides agreed to continue to meet regularly.
